Sannyasa Upanishads, translated by Swami Atmapriyananda

Sannyasa Upanishads

Serious practitioners of Vedanta sooner or later turn to the primary sources of the philosophy, most notably the Upanishads, the Bhagavad Gita, and the Brahma Sutras.

Most people only read the most popular 11 Upanishads (the 10 or 11 commented upon by the Advaitin saint, Shankaracharya), but there actually are more than 100 Upanishads. This book presents some of the “minor” Upanishads that are particularly focused on monastic life.

Why would a non-monastic care about “minor” Upanishads that talk about monastic life? Because we all can learn from the ideals and practices of those people who are most willing to build their life around what they firmly believe. Even if we have no intention of being a monk (or, more accurately, a “sannyasin”), we still can get a glimpse at our goal and learn from those who are “all in” when it comes to their beliefs.
