Weekly Spiritual Service

American Vedanta’s DIY Vedanta Service
Wednesdays, 7-9pm
Astoria, NY (for exact address, RSVP)

American Vedanta hosts a weekly do-it-yourself Vedanta service in New York City’s Astoria neighborhood every Wednesday from 7-9pm.

The service consists of a theatrical reading, self-directed spiritual study and a talk given by American Vedanta host, Peter Kowalke.

Theatrical Reading
Peter, a former performance poet, gives a short dramatic reading from the words of saints.

Self-Directed Spiritual Study
Each attendee reads from a spiritual book of their choosing or studies the book currently selected for the group, right now “The Journey from Many to One, by Swami Bhaskarananda. Each person brings their own book, although an assortment of titles also is available at the meetup for those who don’t have a book or are looking for something better. Some of the books we recommend.

Spiritual Talk
A short spiritual talk, questions and discussion follow the self-directed study. The weekly spiritual talk is delivered by Peter and based on questions and ideas introduced by the group.
Submit your question. A condensed version of some of the talks are available here.
